Regulators are used to control or to say, downsize the air pressure received from the compressor as required by the application. Not many applications require high pressure air as stored in the compressor. For this purpose, regulators are used that downsize the high pressure to a level that is required by the application.
There might be several makes and models of the air filter regulators but they all have certain common characteristics. Regulators are devices that are unidirectional as they are meant to regulate the air pressure coming from the compressor to the level desired. They can only lower the air pressure and not increase it. You can save a lot of money when you are using regulators to use the compressed air at the minimum capacity required.
We have done the research for you and have compiled a list of the best compressed air filter regulator available in the market. These regulators have been reviewed on the basis of their design, style, type and price. You can check out the list to find the ideal regulator for your requirement.

I purchased this PneumaticsPlus SAW4000M-N04BG as a part of a full system upgrade to my home shop air system. I have about 200feet of plumbing feeding my wood shop and two garage. I put this filter/regulator near my compressor before it splits off to the different areas. I say near, because I made a 20′ long water trap system made out of 3/4″ copper pipe, and this filter is at the end of that water trap system. This type of filter is more effective with cooled air, so I wanted a run of copper between the compressor and the filter/regulator unit.I wanted the air to flow into the right side and out the left side of the filter/regulator. To do this, I simply installed the pressure gage on the other side of the unit. There are holes on the front and back of the unit, and the gage and pipe plug can be swapped to switch the air flow direction. I also turned the bowl, which easily twists off and locks on in any 90 degree orientation. This unit seems to be well made, and it does not leak at all. I have this connected to my plumbing, but not to the compressor tank, and it has been pressurized to 120 PSI for days without moving. The small volume of air in the plumbing would drop in pressure if there were leaks.I will update this review as I get more use from the unit.

Very good product. The filter portion does an excellent job of separating oil, water and debris and is easily cleaned. The pressure is easily set or changed and does hold the pressure at the set level. A lot of combination products which are designed to handle multiple functions can often be poor in performance but this unit performed flawlessly. My first use of this was spray painting and, since I didn’t have a leader hose, I mounted it on the compressor outlet. The vibration from the compressor did cause the fittings to loosen even though I had used Teflon tape on the fittings. Getting a leader hose and moving the unit out away from the compressor will probable solve that problem.Good price, good performance.

Great regulator and filter. Easy to adjust, and can take my 165 PSIG compressor. My previous regulator/filter had a plastic cup that exploded after a couple of years use, causing me to jump about 5 feet in the air.

I bought this to keep moisture out of the R37121-600-VS 1/4″ regulator on my 30 gallon automotive compressor. I use the compressor to run an airbrush. So, the compressor only cycles a few times a day, but the unit is pressurized all day long. Therefore, I like components to hold pressure – Leaking air is a bother. This filter holds pressure quite well with little noticeable loss after a day.The filter seems carefully designed and well made. It is light-weight, but it does not look or feel cheap. I think it will last. The housing is plastic with aluminum internal components. It has a clever, sliding detente to release the bowl. Like other manual drain filter units, there is a pin at the bottom that can be pressed to release air and water while the compressor is pressurized. When the compressor is depressurized, you can remove the bowl. This filter is cost effective, holds pressure, and works well. I recommend it.

Regulator/Water separator works great! Keep in mind that you need to also buy 3/8″ threaded male NPT fittings in order to get it up and running. I bought two of these: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005DSTC6W?redirect=true&ref;_=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_41 to use and proceeded to clamp my hoses to the ends of the fittings. Every thing is tight, and it separates the water like it should. My air compressor runs at 135psi, and I run this regulator at 100 psi. Couldn’t ask for a better tool to solve my water issues.

For the price it can’t be beat…I haven’t had it long but so far it is performing flawlessly and seems to be a quality item even though made in China. Heavy and seemingly accurate when it comes to the regulator, the lubricator was easy to calibrate and the water trap works well which is a must here in South Texas.

Excellent product. Manages my air tools perfectly. Was not able to place the piggyback next to air tool as I have a retractable hose reel mounted 12ft high. Not sure on the level of water/debris extraction yet as I just hooked this up. I will follow up on the durability and performance of extraction.

Very pleased with this product. It’s a bit small compared to what you may be used to. Separates water from air very well and regulator stays on desired settings with little to no variations in pressure settings. This is true even when u add in high volume tools.
The choice of the regulator depends upon the application for which it is being used. Therefore, you must first know about the application for which you are using the regulator and the pressure requirements so that you do not choose a non-functional one.
You must ensure that the quality of the filter is high so that there are no requirements of changing it too often. We hope that you found our review of the best compressed air filter regulator impressive and informative and you were able to find the best one for your application.
We would love to know about your choice of the regulator and your experience of the chosen one. Do write to us about any other better regulators that you know of.
