Hinges come in various types giving you a tough time in selecting the right one that suits your requirement. Actually there are different types of hinges as they are used for different purposes and therefore they have different names. Continuous hinges are the ones that are most commonly used in all types of frameworks, cabinets and doors. However, if the pieces that are to be opened or closed are heavy but a part of something delicate like a piano, you need piano hinges.
Actually piano hinges are type of continuous hinges but they are bit more sturdy and strong as they need to connect the two heavy lids of the delicate piano. You will want to lift the lid carefully to play the piano and then close it carefully without causing a jerk to damage the piano. Piano hinges in this respect are ideal.
We researched the market to find the best heavy duty piano hinges and here is a list of the same. You can use these hinges not only on piano lids but also on cabinet doors and other areas where the materials to be connected are heavy and dense yet delicate.

These hinges were used for heavy outdoor shed doors. They work very well. They do not sag at all. They feel solid, like they will last forever. I am very satisfied with these hinges. They arrived in a shipping tube in perfect condition. Amazon came through again for me. The price was also the best around.

I needed a strong hinge. The project involved mounting a flat panel TV directly on a large oak board that would actually be a door in an overhead cabinet of a recreational vehicle. The door would be hinged at top and would be supported by a pair of 45# gas struts. This would put considerable force on the hinge – not only from the struts but also from the weight of the TV and bouncing up and down the roads.Since the hinge would be hidden from view, the coloration was not a key consideration – nickle was just fine. I needed a full-width hinge to distribute the weight. This 30″ hinge was about 2″ too long. I hoped I would be able to cut it down to size. Well, after it arrived, I put the hinge in a vice and trimmed it with a hacksaw and a metal cutting blade. That went smoothly. Now with the exact width hinge, I was able to secure the door to the cabinet. The frequent screw holes, along with supplied wood screws, allowed a very secure installation. The hinge proved to be quite solid, it seems to easily deal with the stresses of the overhead cabinet door, and it still operates smoothly after a couple of months of use. So, I am pleased with the hinge.Delivery was fine – I got it quickly (and local stores had nothing like this in stock) and it was reasonably well packed (a little bent on delivery but easy to straighten out).

I’ve seen plenty of piano hinges that were too flimsy for nearly any purpose. I needed some hinge for a chop saw stand in my workshop and liked that this is stainless steel, so I tried it. I used it in 3 places on my stand and so far, it’s working well. Since it’s stainless, I know that it won’t rust in the places I cut it.If you buy this hinge, you may also be interested in Stainless Steel Sheet Metal Screw, Plain Finish, Flat Head, Phillips Drive, Self-Drilling Point, Right Hand Threads, Inch. The table listing the screw sizes for the hinge say to use #4 screws, but you should ignore that because the #6-20 screws work perfectly with the hinge. I used the 3/4″ length, but they are also available in a 1 1/4″ length. They are called sheet metal screws, but they worked well in plywood. They have a self drilling point, but I pre-drilled the holes.
