There is no denying the fact that air compressors can be noisy. While some can be less noisy than others, they all make noise and you need a muffler silencer to keep that noise at bay. It is also suggested that you wear hearing protection when around air compressors as the noise is loud enough to cause permanent hearing loss over time.
The noise generated by the air compressors is from the intake side of the pump. You can fit the inlet muffler silencers to reduce the noise. You can also install a 90-degress elbow on the air intake and then install a silencer. The muffler silencer that you choose should be high quality, easy to install, easily replaceable and affordable. Although it is difficult to make the air compressor totally noise free, the silencers can reduce the noise to a bearable extent.
We have done the research for you and have compiled a list of the best air compressor muffler silencer available in the market. These silencers have been reviewed for the factors mentioned above. You can peruse through the list to find the best one for your requirement.

I am replacing this identical filter on my Jeep’s on-board air compressor (built from a junkyard York 210) only because the previous one I had for 7 years was smashed into the hood when I broke a motor mount. I had nothing but good things to say about this Solberg filter, and based on the dents in the underside of my hood it gave as good as it got. I probably would have been able to bend the old one back into shape enough to get the cover to stay in place, but it actually tore the metal where the threaded outlet joins the filter body. This time, I’m going to be adding some additional plumbing to get the filter a little lower and farther away from the hood.Without the filter, the York compressor does have a slightly higher pitched whine to it, so there do appear to be some noise-suppression qualities to this filter, but that was not my primary purpose for this purchase – I don’t want unfiltered air going into my compressor!I didn’t realize that this came with the filter media already installed so I bought another one based on Amazon’s “Frequently Bought Together” suggestion, but oh well – now I guess I have a spare.

I have a harbor freight air compressor and they come with a very cheap compressor filter (plastic with a thin piece of foam). My old filter got broken so I purchased this one and it works great and is much more robust. The only thing that might cause an issue is the clearance when you go to tighten the unit up to the compressor. A thin (like the very old bicycle wrenches which tightened up the old cones) wrench is needed to get it completely tight. I did mine hand and it works fine

This ASN-8 air silencer is a good value in terms of performance versus price, is very compact, and does what it’s supposed to do: reduce the noise level of air venting from a compressed air system. I use this silencer on the air bleed valve on my small shop air compressor. Before I installed the this silencer, each time I needed to service my air compressor I had to put up with the very loud and annoying screech of venting high pressure air when I opened the bleed valve. The noise was so bad that I had to leave the room. After installing the ASN-8, the noise is greatly reduced and can now remain in my shop while the air is venting. While air venting through the silencer still makes considerable noise, it is much quieter than before and I’m sure that it’s much safer for my ears — it’s no longer painful to be near the bleed valve when its venting. I’m very pleased with it for my application. Note that this model is very small and therefore has a limited flow. As such the ASN-8 is probably not suitable to vent a really large or very high pressure compressed air system. My shop compressor is set for 125 psi and only has a 60 gallon tank and the ASN-8 seems to be a good fit for a modest sized air system like mine.

Wow I’m more than impressed with this guy. I didn’t know how much to expect. I got my Cambell Hausfield pancake compresser (the old yellow model) used from a wall texture coating contractor who rode it hard and put it away wet – but that was what I could afford at the time. It always had a broken filter on it. It is louder than a 747 turbo fan at takeoff. So many years later, it still works great. So I’m not going to waste money buying a newer model. I bought this silencer and the sound difference is dramatic. I don’t have a decibel meter but I would easily say that the difference is significant. The thing goes from the noise level of a thousand screaming demons almost to a level which you could have a conversation with. I will have to test more to see if any changes in performance but this thing is the real deal.Just be careful about which thread you buy. Measure yours and use a PT chart to convert.

I was looking for something to fill the gap until we bought the $500+ silencers, but after installing these, I don’t think we are going to bother.Simple design- tube, cuts, screen mesh on the inside. I think we should be able to wash them out if they just clogged.

Perfect replacement filters for compressors with 1/2″ NPT threads. You have to understand that these folks who sell these items do not understand the actual sizes of pipe threads, so when they say it has a 3/4″ thread, they mean that exact measurement, especially when they don’t call out NPT after their measurement. The actual thread on these is 1/2″ NPT.

I needed to replace the filter setup on my air compressor. So far, this has done the job that I expected it would. It fit nicely into the 1/2″ port I have and tightened down enough for me to not worry about leaks in. Also, this setup does come with a filter, which is not specified in the description, and I was prepared to make one myself. So far so good, good price as well.
If you have air compressors installed in any of the work area, it is recommended that you get them shifted to a far off corner or garage. You must build an enclosure for the air compressor in a bid to reduce the noise that it produces. You must not cover the air compressor with anything as this will cause serious overheating. It is also essential to ensure proper air flow, both from the intake side and that of the cooling side.
We hope that you found our review of the best air compressor muffler silencer informative and you were able to find the best one for your air compressor. It would be great if you shared your choice of muffler silencer with us.
